  • 2013 CRMA Awards Nominee - Song of the Year (Mainstream AC) for "No Good Woman"

BIOGRAPHY

It's been a whirlwind year for Toronto native, Elise LeGrow. Her hit single, "No Good Woman," the first track off her 2012 self-titled EP, spent 13 weeks in the Top 10 at Adult Contemporary Radio in Canada, peaking at #6.

In summer 2012 she signed with Los Angeles-based management firm, The Complex Group (Karmin, The Elev3n), and shot a music video with Director Landon Williams in conjunction with production designer, David Courtemarche of DC5 Designs Studio (Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5, Jay-Z, Owl City). The video features one of the first-to-market uses of HDR (High Dynamic Range) video technology developed by Williams and his team.
Elise's development as a music fan has largely informed her development as a vocalist, with influences ranging from the sticky pop sounds of Paula Abdul and Whitney Houston, to '60s and ‘70s classic rock, and most recently, classic jazz and early soul and R&B. "I started hearing the things I loved about Mariah and Whitney in the music from decades before," she shares. "That was a big moment in my development."

Honing her talents singing in popular clubs in and around her home city, performing classic selections from the American songbook, the singer went through a formative period in which her own voice really started to emerge: a happy marriage of all of her influences with a distinctive, modern twist all her own. This evolution continued as she fine-tuned her songwriting abilities and poetic voice, netting a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing Canada.

Soon after, she entered the studio to write and complete songs for her recently released EP, collaborating with Ron Sexsmith, Jon Levine , Stefan Skarbek, Victoria Horn, and Thomas "Tawgs" Salter (Josh Groban, LIGHTS). While the seven songs that comprise the EP have much in common with some of today's biggest pop tracks, her voice carries hints of highly-revered, timeless female singers who've emerged each decade since the ‘50s – from Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone to current contemporaries ranging from Mariah Carey, Adele, Nelly Furtado, and Florence Welch.

Look for "No Good Woman" and her latest single, "OK Cupid" on YouTube and VEVO, and her debut EP on iTunes and other digital music services now.
