Originally from Pointe-Claire, a suburb of Montréal, Québec, Jonathan Roy is a Canadian singer-songwriter. The son of NHL legend Patrick Roy, Jonathan left his hometown at the age of six when his father's career transferred the family to Colorado for the next decade. Back in Québec, he joined the Québec Ramparts hockey team and continued to pursue his passion for music, eventually deciding to focus on music full-time.
This brought Jonathan Roy to the attention of renowned Canadian pop icon Corey Hart. Having first met in February of 2013, Roy and Hart have been virtually inseparable, building a profound personal and professional partnership working towards the sound which would ultimately define Jonathan Roy to the world.
"Corey always pushes me to the max by his natural intensity and constant pursuit of excellence. It's inspired me to become a deeper, more versatile musician. He's truly changed my life forever, making me a better man and artist, and for this I am so thankful."
That pursuit of excellence is on full display on Jonathan's major label debut album Mr. Optimist Blues. Released in the midst of a hugely successful Top Ten run at radio with the single "Daniella Denmark," the album debuted at #3 on Canada's national album sales chart and #1 in Roy's home province of Quebec.
In the summer of 2017, while performing in front of over 25,000 fans at the Festival d'Ete in his hometown of Quebec City, Jonathan received a gold record for "Daniella Denmark."
Mr. Optimist Blues also features the Top 5 Quebec radio hit "You're My Ace" and "Freeze Time" written by Corey Hart and produced by Danish DJs Deepened.
