"Staying Power" is a rare achievement in the music industry these days, but it`s a phrase that definitely applies to Saskatoon`s One Bad Son. "There is a huge difference between simply surviving in this industry versus thriving," says singer Shane Connery Volk, "We haven`t just held on, we`ve built staying power. We are continually humbled and grateful to see our fanbase expand. New fans discover our music every day, and the demand has only grown for us to keep writing and releasing new music."Formed in late 2004, OBS has worked their way from local bars and clubs to playing some of music`s biggest stages - in Canada and internationally. Their tireless work ethic has seen them tour the country numerous times to spread their music to every rock fan they could find. That work ethic has paid off. In their 18 years as a band, OBS has headlined countless sell-out performances, as well as opening for some of the biggest names in rock - from Shinedown and Godsmack, to legendary names like Def Leppard, Judas Priest and The Rolling Stones. Looking back over a nearly two decade career, drummer Kurt Dahl reflects, "We`ve always forged our own path and never followed trends, and while this made for a road less travelled, it allowed us to call that road our own and do it our way…which has made all the difference." In addition to their legendary high impact live shows, OBS has made huge waves on rock radio scoring seven top 10 hits including their number 1 hit single "Raging Bull," which held the top spot for four weeks. Volk gives all credit to the fans, "We`ve never been a mainstream band. Our success has come from tireless work, and the love and support of our amazing fans. They demanded to hear us on the radio, and their voices were heard!" With the world finally opening up to live music, OBS is set to keep bringing loud prairie rock and roll to stages across the country and around the world. New music is already being recorded for their ever-expanding fanbase. "After 18 years it really does feel like a gift every time we get up on stage," says Dahl, "Every show, every song, every fan…it means the world to us to play rock and roll that connects with so many people. We`re as excited about our new songs and new shows as we were at the beginning of this whole thing."
