Tucked away in Kensington Market, downtown Toronto's most culturally diverse neighborhood, brothers Jacob (vocals) and Nick Bitove (drums), with childhood friends Andrew Keyes (bass) and James Tebbitt (guitar) have harnessed their musical influences into a sound that is completely their own. Part alternative, part pop, and slightly influenced by their love of hip-hop, ROMES create instant high-energy anthems.
The band's debut single "Tryna Be" reached a peak position of #26 on Canada's Top 40 charts leading the band to be nominated for Best New Group at the Canadian Radio Music Awards 2018. With ROMES' music soundtracking Madden 17 and TNT's NBA Playoffs, it's no wonder the band were selected by Alternative Press as one of their "Ones To Watch". Rogers Communications Canada also chose the band as their "Artist to Watch" along with Bell Media, iHeartRadio Canada and Virgin Radio Canada highlighting the group as their "Emerging Star".
ROMES' debut, self-titled album was produced and mixed by acclaimed and grammy-nominated Tony Hoffer (Phoenix, Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, M83) who first connected with ROMES over a mutual love for an irresistible-yet unpretentious rock sound stating "We wanted to make sure you could literally feel the power of the band as if you're standing in the same room with them." This approach, along with the guys' genuine chemistry, makes ROMES the kind of band you want to let into your life immediately.
