Fade Awaays are a Toronto-based Indie/Alternative rock band formed in 2013. The group is comprised of Reid MacMaster (guitar/vocals/percussion), Duncan Briggs (bass/vocals/synth), Sean Hackl (guitar/vocals), and Owen Wolff (drums/vocals/percussion). The group has a democratic approach to making music: each member contributes to lead vocals and songwriting.
After getting started in the Toronto club scene, Fade Awaays began their career relentlessly gigging throughout the city and beyond. Setting out on multiple tours of Ontario and Eastern Canada, all while finishing high school and completing music college. While gaining experience putting on exciting and dynamic stage shows, Fade Awaays found themselves building a strong and dedicated fan-base. After the release of their debut EP, "Taste Of Life" in 2019, the group signed with The Feldman Agency, opened a string of shows for JUNO award winning rock-band The Beaches, and showcased at popular music festivals like NXNE and CMW.
That subsequent year, Fade Awaays released two acclaimed singles, "As They Do" and "I Won't Lie"… The later having been mixed by Grammy award winning producer and mix engineer Dave Sardy.
In February/March of 2020, Fade Awaays opened 8 shows across Canada for The Beaches, finishing with 2 sold-out shows at Toronto's famous Danforth Music Hall. With experience under their belts and the looming threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fade Awaays shifted their focus into new music. 2020 hosted a year of demoing for the band, having them spend time in DIY studios… Writing and experimenting with new sounds, building their catalogue.
On June 18th, 2021, Fade Awaays doubled down on new music and released their sophomore EP, "These Visions". The lead single, "Silent Treatment" received widespread airplay on college/ university & independent radio, as well as making it to the Top 100 list in the 2021 CBC Searchlight competition.
Fade Awaays lend themselves to an immersive and nostalgic sound, akin to that of many popular bands of the mid-90's. Finding influence in acts like Oasis, Primal Scream, Radiohead, Sloan and more. They are often noted for their "big" sound, and look to expand upon their raw and captivating live-energy by exploring new avenues of production, instrumentation and composition.
The band has appeared at popular Canadian music festivals CMW, NXNE & Indie Week. They were named one of Exclaim! Magazine/Dan Burke's Class of 2018 graduates, and have played/ toured alongside international acts such as Wolf Alice, The Beaches, Public Access TV, Hot Flash Heat Wave & More.
