With a career spanning nearly two decades and decorated with several awards, nominations and music certifications to her name, multi-platinum recording artist Fefe Dobson is a true renaissance woman within the entertainment industry. Emerging as a pop / rock artist in the early 2000's, Fefe stood out among her contemporaries as an edgy black female outlier in an otherwise male dominated genre. Her Platinum Certified (Gold in America) eponymous debut album (2003) was released to critical acclaim, earning the 18 year old new girl on the music scene 4 consecutive top 10 radio singles including 'Bye Bye Boyfriend,' 'Take Me Away' and 'Don't Go (Girls & Boys)'. The single ‘Everything' was a fan favourite that was featured on the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures hit teen comedy ‘The Perfect Score' (2004). The album received multiple award nominations including 2 JUNO Award nominations and catapulted the young pop / rock artist into international stardom as the album officially debuted at #1 on the Billboard HeatSeekers album charts and landed her an opening slot of Justin Timberlake's 2004 Justified Tour across Europe. Upon returning to North America, Fefe dove into the acting world, appearing as one of her biggest influences, the iconic Tina Turner on the hit NBC series American Dreams. As an accomplished songwriter Fefe has penned hit songs for the biggest names in pop music including Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Jordin Sparks between releasing her own material for her follow up album 'Joy' (2010). Fefe's sophomore album was a breakout success with two platinum certified top 10 singles 'Ghost' and 'Stuttering' and the gold certified hit 'Can't Breathe,' a collaboration with legendary music producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd) and guitar solo by recording artist Orianthi. In 2011, Fefe joined the cast of Sudz Sutherland's independent film "Home Again" alongside Tatyana Ali and Stephen James, in the supporting role of Cherry C, which debuted at the world renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2012. This feature film acting role earned her a nomination at the 2012 Canadian Screen Award for Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.To follow up the success of her album "Joy," Fefe released several buzz singles intended for a future project, including the radio singles "Legacy" which initially premiered on the hit teen drama series ‘Degrassi' in the summer of 2013 and "In Better Hands" in 2014. In late 2014, Fefe took a hiatus from her own music projects to focus on writing behind the scenes for other artists, after relocating to Nashville, Tennessee.During the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2019, Fefe (alongside Canadian pop star Tyler Shaw) assembled some of Canada's biggest artists including Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne and Bryan Adams for a charity single of the late Bill Withers' 'Lean On Me' which raised over $300K for COVID-19 relief efforts in her native Canada. In early 2020, Fefe teamed up with legendary songwriter and producer Linda Perry for 'White Line Runaways' a song which was featured on the HBO MAX film 'Unpregnant' (2020) soundtrack.International artists like Willow Smith and Olivia Rodrigo made a big impact in 2021 with their rock driven pop anthems across social media and radio charts. This shift in sound among the younger generation cracked the door back open for pioneers like Fefe to be reintroduced and acknowledged for the groundwork they laid years prior. As NYLON Magazine thoughtfully pointed out "Dobson inspired Black alternative kids who saw themselves in her."Fefe's comeback single "FCKN IN LOVE" is best described as a euphoric rush of passionate love driven by the heartbeat of synth, electric guitars and emphatic drum progression. Produced by Thomas "Tawgs" Salter (Walk Off The Earth, Mother Mother, Lights) and co-written by Cook Classics (Beyoncé, Ava Max, Panic! at the Disco), Negin Djafari (Drake, ZAYN, Lights) and Dobson herself, the song was originally written back in 2012 about insatiable love. This marked Fefe's long awaited return from the pop / rock artist as her first commercial music release in nearly 8 years. The song reached top 20 in Canada on the CHR/Top 40 charts and has become an instant fan favourite at her live shows. The latest single ‘HUNGOVER' (co-written with Good Grief and Sam Arion) is an homage to Fefe's earlier bodies of work with it's uninhibited and apologetic punk rock lyrics and anthemic production.A brand new album is expected from Fefe Dobson in Fall 2023, a culmination of her rock influence and pop melodies blended together. Fans can expect a sound that they are familiar with and unifies Fefe's earlier albums.
