Michael Bublé Enchants 'Tonight Show' With Snazzy 'When You're Smiling': Watch
Michael Bublé charmed The Tonight Show on Monday night (Nov. 19) with a swinging rendition of the 1920s jazz standard "When You’re Smiling" off his recently released 10th studio album, Love.
Backed by an upbeat 16-piece jazz band, the 43-year-old crooner’s rich voice melted into the opening refrain: "When you`re smiling, when you`re smiling/ The whole world it smiles with you/ When you`re laughing, when you`re laughing/ Well the sun come shining through."
The bass and drums were joined by a quartet of violins on the song made famous by the likes of Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra, as Bublé`s voice heated up and his smile lit up. "Lets, go, Let’s go," encouraged the charismatic singer after the first chorus, turning toward the band as the stage flooded with light and the horn section burst to life.
The singer`s buttery voice was later accompanied by the whole band as all the instruments except the drums came to a halt for some enthusiastic call-and-response. "When you`re smiling, baby," Bublé crooned, "The whole world, it smiles with you."
